We are happy to host role-playing or miniatures
campaigns run by our customers! If you are considering running
something, contact Chris Walsh at
chris@whiznet.com or call the store!
We understand that
the primary purpose of a campaign is for the participants to have
fun. But we need the event to fit the store environment, so
the following guidelines must be followed. If you cannot have fun
while following these guidelines, please pick a different venue to
host your campaign.
Schedule: A mutually agreeable time
must be set up. Note that even if we schedule a time for your
campaign, priority is given to pay events. The Whiz Store reserves
the right to cancel or reschedule a non-paying campaign day in favor
of pay events, with or without notice.
Fees:
Payment is up to the games master. Some games masters charge fees as
recompense for their planning time, or to fund the purchases of new
campaign materials. If any fee is charged, The Whiz Store will
collect the fees at the door and split the proceeds with the games
master. But no fee is mandatory, and we will happily host your
campaign at no charge.
Rules of Conduct:
We feel that
players in our store should be accountable to the usual social rules
of a public place, if for no other reason than the store cannot
afford to have gaming events make the store unattractive to other
customers. We ask that the games master be responsible for ensuring
the behavior of their group. This includes, but is not limited to,
the following guidelines:
- The GM is
PERSONALLY responsible for making sure all trash, especially
food trash, goes into the cans in the back. If the space is
consistently trashed, the GM will be asked to disband the group
(or move it to the nearest pigsty, at their option.)
- The GM is
PERSONALLY responsible for preventing players from bringing in
outside food. The store has sodas and snacks available at
reasonable prices.
- The GM is
PERSONALLY responsible for making sure our language rules are
enforced. The GM and players must refrain from swearing and the
use of ethnic, sexual, scatological or religious pejoratives. We
have mothers with five-year-olds in our store at all hours, who
will rightfully be offended by potty language. If other
customers complain about the group's language even once, or if
store staff must repeatedly remind you about your language, the
GM will be invited to disband the group.
- The GM is
PERSONALLY responsible for enforcing hygiene rules. The GM and
players are required to have bathed, used deodorant, and brushed
their teeth at least once within the 24 hours before playing in
the event. Complaints about 'gamers funk' will cause us to
invite the GM to disband the group.
Intellectual Property:
We sell pirate themed toys, but other
pirates are not tolerated.
You cannot use
laptops and downloaded texts unless you can prove you also own the
physical book. If we make a spot check and find you are violating
copyright, the group will be permanently banned from using laptops
at the store..
Rules Sets: We strongly encourage the use
of current rules sets and systems carried by the store. If we have
to make a choice between a group running a random game system we do
not carry vs. a group running D&D 3.5 vs. a group running the
current version of D&D, we will pick the group running the current
version of D&D. |
