-
Remember that you play a game WITH an opponent, not
against them. Treat your opponent with respect, and
remember that both of you are entitled to enjoy the
game.
- Be
friendly. Smile!
-
Win,
lose or draw: Congratulate your opponent on a good game
and shake.
-
Play
fairly and honestly.
-
We
all start as newbies. When playing someone new to a
game, be helpful and patient when questions arise.
-
Speak courteously and calmly to your opponent at all
times. Resolve disputes quickly and calmly. If you
cannot quickly agree to an amicable resolution, get the
event judge or a store employee.
-
If
you determine that you or your opponent inadvertently
broke the rules, correct the mistake without trying to
take advantage. Or simply move on and remember the
correct rule for the future.
-
Remember that rulings by the judge are final, even if
wrong. Play on!
-
Remember that we are playing games, not resolving
matters of life or death. ‘Win at all costs’ is an
attitude best left for real life.
-
Pay
attention to your personal hygiene: Smelly opponents are
a drag!
|
-
Never raise your
voice.
-
Never deliberately
insult your opponent. Be very careful that friendly
trash-talking doesn’t stray into inappropriate bragging
or teasing.
-
Never take offense
where none was intended.
-
Don't be a rules
lawyer. It's OK to be correct, but don't use the
letter of the rules to abuse the spirit of the rules.
