Been to The Whiz a few times, but I'm looking to go more often and meet some fellow gamers and have some fun!

Hey buck!

Same here, new to the forums - but have been visiting the store on and off.  Focusing on War 40K right now, though couple of the moderators are trying to nudge me into Warmachine... Hope to see you around!  Grin

Yeah, there are guys who favor one system over the other,
I prefer 40k for modeling purposes,
There are quite a few people who prefer warmachine because its a bit less restrictive and combination based,

They are both good and many people play both,

Have fun with whichever you play Wink

I'm getting into 40k, but I have had my eye on WarMachine as well.  I've never played miniatures before, but I was in a couple weeks ago and there was a big game going on, looked pretty wicked.

Well I would say ive them both a try,
There are quite a few people who can give you demo games of each,
and Falmes of war is also quite popular,

Give them each a try and go with the one(s) that interest you,

Most of all have fun,  Smiley

I'm definitely planning on checking out both.....a friend of mine let me borrow the Necron and Tyranid Codex, and I've been reading through those. Definitely would like to see a demo of both!

Oh yeah, wanna check out some Monsterpocalypse too!

Well I would say just pop down there on Tuesdays, and there will be quite a few people who are playing a variety of armies,

Good time to check things out and get a feel for them,
As to when people play MonPoc, I have no idea,
Post a interest in the forum thread asking for a demo game or two and I am sure you will have quite a few people help you out,

I got a black reach set with both SM's and orks - granted I made vanilla marines but the ork's bring a certain humor to the game if your interested in another army thats off the cuff.

Also, CaptC mentioned that there's a 1000 point army tourney this next tuesday if your interested in popping in.  I'm currently around 800 for my SM and 600 for my Orks so I won't be participating this time.

Also if your interested, I have been going to the monday night painting time and have been having a blast!  Both CaptC and Lonelymonk have been helping me get great results with my beginning army - another reason to pop down on mondays.

Dont know if it helps much but its a option,

I'm new to the forum as well but not quite as new to wargaming. I'm building up a Necron army that I inherited from someone and an eclectic mix of different Imperial Guard (IG). Need the new codex for IG and the new rulebooks for 40K. Under the forum topic on tournys and events there's a list of what is goign on fo rthe month as far as special events and what they try and have lined up on the weekdays. Take a look and pop on down when you haev free time. Even if a different game is being played or listed from what you're interested in there's usually some spectators and since most are into multipl gaming systems I'm sure they'll be happy to answer any questions you haev about a specific system.

Welcome all!

FWIW, Fridays are also quite popular 'catch as catch can games day'. Usually we have people in from about noon on, looking for games. If you have Friday off, you might try scrounging up a game here on the forums, or just stop on by. A few of the regulars bring in minis to paint if it turns out there is no one to play, you might make a little progress on your army as well.
